mountain heights response to covid-19 virus

Sunday Services

1. By recommendation from the Mon County Health Department, we are canceling Sunday services until further notice.
2. However, God's mission doesn't stop because we can't meet together! We are working on an online church format where you can worship, hear announcements, and hear teaching, similar to our normal service format. Check back here for more information on that in the coming days!

Small groups and other events

1. Small groups are canceled for the time being.
2. All other events are canceled for the foreseeable future.

Letter from lead Pastor Kenny basnett

3/17/20:

Mountain Heights Family,

As many of you are aware, we are uniting with people from all around the globe to fight the spread of COVID-19. It is important that we do not give into fear yet own the responsibility that we have to do all we can for the good of all people. I strongly believe that is Jesus' heart on the issue. It is our responsibility to make adjustments as to how we function as a church.

I spoke with the Monongalia County Health Department at 4pm yesterday and they advised that we suspend our Sunday gatherings. The CDC & Trump administration are advising that the American people do all that we can to not have gatherings over 10 people. We need to heed this advice. We will be postponing our traditional Sunday morning gathering & small groups going in effect today, March 17th.

Do not let this cause you fear. Jesus is in control of all of this and will work this for his glory and the good of those who love him (Romans 8:28). Let's exercise our hearts and minds to not let them be troubled but to believe in Jesus (John 14:1). With the absence of fear let's have a right concern that stirs us to pray for Morgantown, West Virginia, our country, and the world. I know that He has plans to work something good in each of us through this time. Let’s seek Him and ask Him to do what He wants!

Some changes: Sunday church services, small groups, the Mountain Heights Series, and all other church gatherings are suspended at this time. The church office is also closed. The Mountain Heights Staff will be working from home for the time being and limiting face-to-face meetings and following the recommended standards for “social distancing” during this time.

This Sunday we will launch an online church service! The plan is to have a page on our website with links to “worship lyric videos” chosen by Bryant Noble our staff worship leader, an audio recording of a Bible teaching for the week from myself, and a closing worship video. You can still give tithes and offerings through our website Giving. The online service will be posted by 9am on Sunday mornings. The hope is to try to mirror a typical Sunday service at Mountain Heights and stay in unity following Jesus together. Let’s do our best adapting to this with faith!

Please feel free to email me with any questions (kbasnett@mountainheightschurch.com). I want to hear from you guys. I love you guys a ton! It hurts me greatly that we cannot physically meet together, but I trust Jesus and know that we will make it through this season! Jesus' church is not fragile! Let’s do our best to support one another and trust Him.
